Top tips for one week in Brittany !

Why would you stay in Dol-de-Bretagne ?

Dol-de Bretagne is a lovely medieval town, ideally located near the côte d’Émeraude, the Rance river and the Mont-Saint-Michel bay. If you book a bed at Edd hostel, you will be just next to the train station so you will be able to travel around the region very easily !

Make the most of Saint-Malo !

You have always wanted to try windsurfing or catamaran ? Here is your opportunity ! From Dol-de-Bretagne, you will reach Saint-Malo in 16 min by train. You can book a course with the Saint-Malo Surfschool and live a one-of-a-kind experience. You can also try surf if you want.

If you love water but prefer to be under it, we can recommend you a diving session in Saint-Malo area. There is a great diving center not so far from Intra Muros. Try a new experience, it is amaizing!

For the rest of the day, you can explore Saint-Malo’s old town, fortifications and beaches.

 

Sand yachting in Mont-Saint-Michel Bay

Off to Hirel (1h by bike from Dol) to try sand yachting. After a short briefing, the wind will blow you along the beach during 1 or 2 hours, with a nice view on the Mont-Saint-Michel ! Our advise : book it in advance on the Avel association website.

 

If you stay one week in brittany, you can also stop on the way to the Centre de Découverte and learn about the mussels culture in the bay of Mont Saint-Michel.

And why not horse riding?

Horse riding in the bay is a unique experience. There is several horse clubs in the area and you can book directly with them a walk on the beach. This rides are possible for beginners or experienced persons.

Venture yourself into treetop courses

 

Take a rush of adrenaline at Corsaire Aventure (1h by bike from Dol). Ziplines, net courses, trampolines… There is enough fun for everyone. What’s original : the park is inspired from piracy stories and legends : boats, masts, nets… You will feel like a pirate for the day !

 

A fun day at Cobac Parc

If you like amusement parks, you will enjoy Cobac Parc‘s attractions and water slides. For thrill-seekers, you will surely find some gems amongst the parc. Furthermore, a brand new hanging course in the trees opens this summer ! You will be there in less than an hour by bicycle from Dol-de-Bretagne.

 

 

Dinan’s discovery and kayak on the Rance river

You can be in Dinan city within 30 min by train from Dol-de-Bretagne. Near the harbour, you will be able to pick up your kayak (more info here) to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the Rance river and its fishermen huts. For the rest of the day, you can hang around the medieval town of Dinan, his castle and its fortifications.

Cycling to the Mont-Saint-Michel

 

Yeah, it’s possible to go to the Mont-Saint-Michel cycling from Dol, we did it ! You’ll have to cycle for about 2 hours and a half (one-way), and if you want you can even do a loop. If needed you will be able to rent a bike in Dol-de-Bretagne : with Cycles Romé or Electricycles. If you’re into it, you will find more details on this article.

Explore the Côte d’Émeraude through the GR34

The GR34 route, which runs along the brittany’s coast, starts from the Mont-Saint-Michel and spreads until Saint-Nazaire city (historically linked to Brittany). If you want to be blown away with viewpoints and landscapes, we highly recommand you to explore a few sections during your stay !
