Dinan is one of the most attractive and best preserved small towns with a 13th century castle in Brittany and with 3km long ramparts.

We definetly think Dinan is a must see in the region. You will feel like you are going back to middle age with its old downtown, small streets and a beautiful port where you can fell in love. It was once upon a time an economic hub !

It is located at 25mins by car or train from Dol de Bretagne and Edd Hostel.

Here is a list of activities you should not miss during your day or half day trip to Dinan.

– First, if you arrive by train, open your eyes, don’t be the guy with the phone and look at inside of Dinan railway station. It is unique!

– Visit the castle. Huge fort with donjon from the medieval times. Open everyday from March 25 to December 31.

– Climb to the top of the 40m high Tour de l’Horloge to have a wonderful view over the town and try to see the Mont St Michel on a clear day ?

– Walk around downtown. Get lost.

– Do not miss the street (Rue du petit fort/Jerzual) filled with art galleries and craft shops.

– Go down to the river (La Rance) & enjoy the view.

-If you are organized enough, try to go back to Saint-Malo by boat and cross the Rance River to arrive in the Atlantic.

Want to spend more time around the river, check our blog article : https://eddhostel.com/2-full-day-trip/2017/11/rance-valley-locks/
