Cycling around Combourg

Today we have tested a new route around the village of Combourg, especially made for castles lovers!

Combourg is known to have seen growing up the famous french author Chateaubriand.
The renowned author spent part of his childhood in the Chateau de Combourg. The castle stands on a small hill next to Lac Tranquille (Lake Tranquil) in the town of Combourg. It is there that start the bike tour : Circuit Chateaubriand n.3

You will need 2h to make the tour. First you ride around the lake with a nice view on the castle. Few meters away, you start entering in the countryside and cycle between corn fields, cows & ships.

You will reach the village of Lanrigan where there is a nice 15 century castle & a nice 11 century church. Then, make your route to Dingé, and do not forget to stop to see the 2500 B.C megalith (in a private property- on the right after the village).

Still few kms and you will discover the beautiful Manoir de Trémaudan from 1630. This one is my favorite, with all the flowers and the lake.

It is the end of the loop and you will arrive at the bottom of the Chateau de Combourg.

On the nice village square there is some terrasse with a view on the castle where you will be abble to rest after this 21kms ride!

How to get there: Take the train from Dol de Bretagne to Combourg (10 mins). You can take your bike on the train. Once you get to the castle follow the green sign with a bike!

Where to eat: You will find different restaurants in Combourg. All range of prices.

How much: Train: 5€
